This morning was a frosty one. It wasn't particularly cold -- right around freezing -- but it looked cold from inside the house. So despite the sun I almost didn't go outside with the camera.
What convinced me to start snapping photos was the way the sunlit frost looked on some of my freshest mulch. Once I got out there and got going with the camera, I couldn't stop.
This is the frosty mulch that first caught my eye:
I really like the texture, and once I got my eyes close enough to the ground I realized that a lot of the plants and leaves looked really good when wearing some frost. Also, there was quite a bit of variety in the look of the frost, depending on where it formed.
Here's what I saw:
This almost-not-worth-getting-out-the-camera morning sure turned out to be magical!

What a magical world you've captured in your photos. I've rarely seen such beautiful 3-D ice crystals. This is winter at its prettiest!
ReplyDeleteThanks! It really didn't look very interesting until I got really close. I should bring the microscope outside some day and get a really close look at the crystals. =)
ReplyDeleteThat would be awesome!
ReplyDeleteLoved the close up of the frost.
