Various Nothings

As I was looking through my photo archives to find a couple of specific images, I came across a few different images that never made it into posts. I also found a few older images (from before I started the blog) that I'd like to share with you today. I'll do this from time to time, as I have a more older garden photos that are worth sharing too.

So today it's more about the images. (I did not yet find those specific images I was looking for.)

Starting off with mud. This interesting mix of colors appeared on the patio under the deck after the water main break in May 2009.

I'm still trying to figure out where the different types of mud came from.

I wish I knew what type of tree this is growing in the common ground behind my yard:

I love the bark, and it's unique enough that I should be able to identify it, but most resources show the bark of mature trees, and this one apparently isn't old enough yet. Someday I'll ID it.

That's my favorite hummingbird photo... well, at least in the top five. Probably because it's one of the only shots I have right now of the tiny birds I love in the plants that I love most (bamboo).

Yep, I'm growing my own soccer balls! I'm not sure how long until they're ripe and ready for harvest though. (Okay, it's actually the cones of Fernspray False Cypress.)

That's the surprisingly-colorful "flower" of switchgrass, panicum virgatum 'Heavy Metal'. You only see the colors if you get really close to the plant.

Finally, I have quite a few great cloud photos taken before storms from the past few years. I think I'll need to dedicate an entire post to them sometime soon, but here's a taste:

May 2008, about 7 AM.

The rolling "waves" of the clouds are really beautiful, especially highlighted by the early morning sunlight. It was a rare combination of factors that allowed me to get this shot, and I love it.
