The ground got a deep soaking, the temperature really dropped, and everything was still wet the next morning.
I'm not going to say much about it because there are those in other parts of the country who are still experiencing devastating drought and relentless heat (for instance central Texas), but it it such a relief to actually get some rain.
There was at least 2" of water in this bowl! |
I've always been a fan of dewy mornings, but this one was probably one of my favorites of the last few years because it saved so many trees and other plants.
I'd love to hear how your weather has been this summer (or winter if you're in the Southern Hemisphere), so please let me know in the comments! Let me know what part of the country or world you're in, and a quick summary of your weather. Be sure to mention how it compares to the norm for your area.

Photos after my own heart! Beautiful. I'm sooooo looking forward to our first rain of the season. Another month, I'd say.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures. This summer we have had a bit too much rain. They say it is the wettest summer since 1906.
ReplyDeleteI'm in the Minneapolis suburbs. Spring was a little late, cool, and very rainy. July was one of the hottest on record - heat indexes over 110F (ugh) resulting in some big storms. August and September have been very dry, but there's a chance for rain on Sunday. Sept seems to be a little cooler than normal. We already had a frost - Sept 13, very early. But we Minnesoooootans are used to weather roller coasters!
ReplyDeleteHi Alan - Your rain photos are beautiful!! Here in South Africa in the Western Cape we've had a particularly mild winter - not much rain at all and what seemed like a very early spring. Now its officially spring and we are having rain (which is good but also not the norm). The seasons are changing ...
ReplyDeleteYou got some great photos in celebration of the rain!
