Earlier this week we had some warm, sunny days, and I couldn't help but notice the pond. Besides having a lot of the tree leaves floating on the water's surface now (they were on the bottom before), I noticed that the algae was creating some interesting patterns:
Ghosts! There are ghosts in my pond!
I'm not overly concerned about the algae right now, as I expect everything to start calming down as soon as the water starts warming in the spring, I'm able to add some plants and then some fish.
That's when things will really start getting interesting.
Of course, I've been finding interesting and beautiful things in and on the pond all winter anyway.
Like these algae "ghosts", apparently created by captured bubbles:
I think I'd rather see plants and fish than algae though. Hurry up spring!
.
Prettiest ghosts I've seen!
