GBBD: April 2012

It's the 15th, which means it's time for Garden Bloggers Bloom Day -- a meme I participate in a few times a year when I actually pay attention to the calendar and have some flower pix to post.

So here's a look at what's been blooming for the last week or two in my garden. The roses are particularly lovely right now -- they loved the early start to spring for sure!

***

Quite a bit going on for mid-April in my garden, and not just weeds this time.

'Morden Sunrise' rose

Okay, there are still some weeds.

Columbine

Dogwood (Cornus florida)

'Home Run' rose

Common blue violet -- Viola sororia (lawn weed)

The Salvia greggii has never bloomed this early before. It kept some leaves through our mild winter, so got an early start:

Salvia greggii 'Wild Thing'

This 'Fourth of July' climbing rose (ID in question) bloom is past its prime but still nice:

Kale. Flowers are delicious when at this stage!

Join Carol at May Dreams Gardens as the host of this meme, and see what dozens of other gardeners around the world have blooming right now too.
