Veggie blooms

Yesterday I showed you what's blooming in my garden right now, but I held out on you. I had several more flower photos, all from the veggie beds.

Things are going great in the edibles department this year so far. Whether it's because I have enough good soil now, the winter was mild, or spring was very early this year (or all of these) I've been happy with the veggies. But more details about that in another post soon. Today is about the blooms.

The zucchini squash is the bloom king right now:

I'm hoping to finally have some zucchini this year. I'd love to be one of those people who have so much of these squash that I'm leaving bags on neighbor's front steps. In two years I've gotten zero fruits, so I hope this is the year.

What gives me hope is the peas:

I usually have so little success with these, but this year they're doing fantastic! I hope they inspire the zucchini (and everything else) to greatness too.

Some of the plants have flowers that are too small to photograph well: the kale is almost flowered out and is almost ready to be pulled out. The Mexican sour gherkins have so tiny flowers, perfectly fitting for their tiny fruits -- new to me this year. I also didn't photograph the tomato blooms, although there are a few already.

There are plenty of zucchini blooms photos though, as I love their wrinkly, crumpled texture.

I also love all of these plants themselves that have been feeding us for the past couple of months, with the promise of more fresh, healthy food to come!
