I know I've recently done not just one, but two photographic "studies" of castor beans, but I just can't help myself -- they're so darn photogenic and interesting!
After I pruned the growing tip from the plant that is in my driveway border (in order to get it to branch and fill out more) I realized that the emerging leaf was too textural to just discard without a thorough look. Enjoy!
Okay, I think I'm castor beaned out for a while now.
I guess it's fitting that posts about this plant have been dominating the blog for a while, because this plant has such a huge presence in the garden right now -- it's a late summer star every year!

I think my castor bean doesn't get enough sun. It's all flopped over. I assume yours get full sun all the time? They look perfect.
ReplyDeleteI've only seen a castor bean flopped when it was thirsty. The potted ones I have in 1/2 day sun are upright (although only a couple of feet tall). Plus they're so woody, how could they flop?
