With spring fast approaching (or not so fast depending upon where you live), late-winter cleanup is well under way in my garden.
One last chance to enjoy what last summer gave me before it feeds next summer's plants (in the form of compost).

Rudbeckia triloba |
Salvia officinalis (culinary sage) |
Rose hip, ready to disperse seeds |
Echinacea purpurea |
"Spineless" Opuntia. Except when it produces one to surprise you. Ouch. |
Roses awakening |
Silver beardgrass. Not very attractive, except for the backlit seed heads. |
Rose hip has dropped its seeds. |
Hydrangea bloom. I love them like this. |
Clary Sage. Interested to see this one bloom. So wooly. |
Rose Mallow. Unexpectedly great winter plant. |
Salvia officinalis |
It always makes me a bit sad to remove the last of the old growth.
To cheer myself up I only need look at photos from early summer though. So green.
Not too much longer, right?

You have an eye for finding beauty and interest in unusual places. It's so cool to see things as preyty that we would normally overlook.
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to see someone appreciate plants while they're dormant.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful macro shots. Just the eye candy I needed today.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photographs. Glad someone else can see beauty in seed heads. While clearing the garden seems sad it will soon enough be quickly replaced with vibrant fresh colours
