I already had a large ninebark in my garden and don't really know where I'll put another one, but I couldn't pass up the $10 price tag. The one shown above is my existing plant 'Summer Wine', whose deep, dark colors I love. The new one though...
...well, it's fantastic!
Wow! This one is called 'Center Glow', and is so vibrant! Here's another look at both:

And here they are together:
I'm not sure why the one branch of 'Center Glow' looks so chartreuse -- maybe it's a nutritional thing, or got damaged.
I'm going to put this into a bigger pot as I really have no good idea of where to plant it right now. The colors will darken over the summer, as the foliage looked quite similar to 'Summer Wine' when I bought it. That's not a bad thing as I love 'Summer Wine' with its dark foliage:
But 'Center Glow' is a vibrant, exciting thing right now, and I have to get it into the garden somewhere!
.
The Ninebark, Center glow is awesome. I was out admiring my Summer Wine yesterday. Great natives for the garden.
ReplyDeleteLovely photos
ReplyDeleteI like the shape of the leaves. I didn't know what the plant's name until you posted. Thank you
I have 'Coppertina' & it is adding some copper color this spring! Yours are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteSaw a ninebark at the UC Botanical Garden plant sale on Saturday. Beautiful leaves. Not common around here.
