Just a look at some of the bamboo shoots and fresh new culms. This is Phyllostachys aureosulcata 'Spectabilis', but you knew that already.
I didn't get photos of every species, so maybe I'll have a follow-up post soon.

Lots of great information on bamboo! I want to buy some to plant in my garden- are there nurseries in St. Louis that sell bamboo or do you have to buy it online? Thanks!!
Ruth: There are a few places that carry an odd pot or two of bamboo, but there's a bamboo nursery in Rosebud MO called "Fast Grass Bamboo Nursery" which might be a better bet.
