Some of the pond life
The pond is teeming with life. I'm getting so little done in the garden now, because every time I pass by the water I have to stop "just for a second" to see what's going on.
Twenty minutes later I snap out of my observational trance, having completely forgotten my original task.
There is so much to look at, and it all interests me. The wildlife especially though. Dragonflies:
The difficult to photograph damselflies:
Even the water striders capture my interest for minutes at a time, watching how they interact:
Tadpoles of course, and there are thousands of them in here right now:
These backswimmers, which I never realized until I just read it are swimming on their backs! I'll have to get better photos of these now, as this one is terrible quality:
Did I mention dragonflies?
Don't forget the goldfish! I don't get to see much of them in the summer -- it was easier to enjoy them in the cold season:
Finally, the frogs:
There are currently two or three living in here, and they jump with a squeak every time I approach. These may be my favorite pond dwellers...
Who am I kidding? There's no way I could pick a favorite, as I love watching them all!
.
Great shots! One of my lilies is almost ready to bloom... Finally! But the fish and frogs keep us occupied as do all the bugs and birds and occasional visiting turtle! Love my pond!
