It probably didn't help that the surroundings were dry and mostly brown, but it sure felt like I was hitting the water bottle much more often out here now.
So very dry.
Not colorless or boring though:
Just a huge difference from the wet lushness of the lake.
Soon though we heard something...
...it was coming from up ahead. Things are greening up... what is it?
It's the refreshing gurgle of gently-flowing water!
This was another nice change of scenery -- our hike was really living up to our expectations!
The only downside to the day was the need to clap, yell, sing, (or bang a stick on stuff) every few seconds. What I really wanted to do was hike in silence, enjoying the sounds of Nature. Darn bears need to ruin everything, don't they?
We got our chance to enjoy some sounds very soon though... more on that later. (And hopefully I can get some video put together so you can hear what I'll be talking about.)
.
My question is: Did you ever see a bear?!? Can't wait to find out.
ReplyDeleteWe saw a couple of moose near the Tetons, actually at the Schwabacher landing area when we were there. It was pretty amazing (and a bit scary knowing that bears might be around too).

Gerhard: will you stop reading if I tell you that we never did see a bear? If so, then what I just said was completely hypothetical.
