These Yellowstone posts are tiring me out -- so long, so many photos to include. So I thought I'd simplify a bit today and focus on a few unrelated things from Yellowstone.
Starting with the smoke from the Alum fire as seen from Yellowstone Lake. I took several photos of these billowing beauties, and just had to share them.
I punched up the contrast a bit to inspire more of the sense of wonder (mixed with alarm?) that I had when seeing these in person.
They're somewhat like the clouds that I've been seeing in St. Louis over the past month: big and beautiful, but with very little chance of getting any rain from them.
Moving on, this is how Dexter, the only cat we've ever owned that wasn't fat or at least chubby, spent much of the driving time on this trip:
Wedged between two storage tubs in the alcove above the cab. He loved the security I guess (and is the only one of our cats who could fit here)!
Finally, a couple of panoramic shots taken on the drive between Canyon and the mud volcano:
They didn't really fit the theme of the mud volcano post (although they do contain lots of grass), but I didn't want to forget about them.
(If you're viewing these panoramic shots on your mobile device or tablet, you might be getting frustrated. Since the Blogger "viewer" is being used to show these -- that's when the image gets surrounded by black in a sort of "light box" -- the pano shots are impossible to zoom. That's why I r-click on the image and "view in new tab" for the pano images, where I can zoom in and scroll around these wide images to see them as they were intended to be seen.)
Back to more sights tomorrow, as we move to the Madison area of Yellowstone -- which I just loved!
.
Your cat must love the soothing hum of the engine acoustics in the tube wedge.

The clouds photos are phenomenal. You should have some 20x24 enlagements printed and hang them on your wall!
ReplyDeleteGerhard: I may actually do that, as I spent enough time retouching dirt specks out of these images! (My lenses were really dirty and I didn't notice at the time. I may do a separate post about this.)
