Did you happen to see last week's episode, where Homer has a bit of a mid-life crisis and his ordinary, never-rode-on-the-back-of-a-firetruck life weighs heavily on his mind? As he walks forlornly down the street, a few leaves blow across the foreground of the shot. "Wow! Did you see that!" I excitedly said to my wife, grabbing the remote to watch a few more times...
"One of those leaves has been visited by a leafcutter bee!"
Here's a closer look:
I am simply amazed. I want to know which writer, director, or animator is the gardener and/or student of nature, and insisted that the detail of this circular cutout be added.
Think about it: This leaf was visible for only 3 seconds out of about 1200. How many people would even notice the leaves, let alone the details of one of them? Somebody made an effort!
So you're not a fan of the show. Answer me this: when have you ever seen a leafcutter bee's work on any show on television, let alone on a "simple cartoon"?
I do wonder why Homer is so sad, being a part of this beauty of a show.
Keep on surprising me Simpsons, and I'll keep watching with my eyes (and mind) open!

Excellent! "You know you're a gardener when..."
ReplyDeleteWe're under a tornado watch - weird!
Wow, *your* attention to detail is amazing. Yes, I saw that episode (I'm a big fan of the Simposons too) but I missed that.
ReplyDeleteFirst time I've seen a leaf on TV like that.
