It's been a cold start to winter for us in the Midwest this year, as temperatures are about 10ºF (-12ºC) below normal and have been for the most part of a few weeks.
That means that I'm seeing the winter garden a bit earlier than normal, but that's not always a bad thing -- the winter garden is quite attractive in its own ways.
Some things that caught my eye yesterday and this morning: the pond, the fluffy miscanthus seeds, the sunrise. It's all pretty, but I'm especially fond of the pond in winter -- something about seeing the blobs of color swimming beneath the ice fascinates me.
To be honest though, there's not a lot in the garden that doesn't fascinate me.
These photos say "cold" to me -- I hope I captured that adequately.
Any indications that winter is going to be especially cold where you live?

Beautiful, Indeed! We're supposed to have a short bout of chilly weather next week...other than that, we've been having lovely weather this fall :-)
ReplyDeleteToo cold!! I hope you'll warm up a bit.
ReplyDeleteWe're supposed to have our first frost next week...
It's been a fast leap from fall into full-on winter. Pond froze almost over night it seems.
ReplyDeleteI don't know if it will be a colder winter overall, but it seems like we went from summer to winter pretty fast. It was a great summer and early fall, but November has been colder than "normal." Usually the snow doesn't stick around on the ground until after Thanksgiving. Oh well... Your photos are interesting. I especially like the light play between the blades and seedheads of grass.
ReplyDeleteAlan, the last photo of the pond looks like a Monet painting, very lovely.
