The snow certainly is pretty, but the 4" (10cm) or so we received Friday night is heavy! It started as rain then turned to snow as the temperature dropped.
Great for snowmen and forts, but not so nice for shoveling or if you're a bamboo.
Although the bamboo can take this kind of bending without too many problems...
...having them bent down like this opens up views that I don't normally see.
It's a bit disconcerting, like going back in time five or six years.
So after snapping these photos I went out there with a pole and knocked the snow off:
I couldn't get all of it, and there was some ice clinging to the leaves and branches, but it made me feel better.
Plus it's fun to see the culms snap back upright after a whack or two shakes the snow free.
They didn't return completely to their original positions...
...but they're not too bad, especially after a day of temps slightly above freezing removed most of the remaining snow and ice:
I'm glad to see the green back!
.
It's definitely winter in your neck of the woods!
ReplyDeleteHow interesting. I always wondered how Bamboo would take the snow and ice. It's beautiful both before and after you knocked off the snow.
ReplyDeleteIt's been a snowy start to the winter! Love to see the snow cover.
ReplyDeletePretty, in your garden! I do prefer the green however.
ReplyDeleteIn St. Louis we definitely get winter, but it usually comes in small doses. With temps in the mid 40's and 50's F for the rest of the week, the snow and ice will soon be gone.
