Cold Morning

Awoke this morning expecting it to be cold, and was not disappointed. About 10ºF (-12ºC), which makes it the coldest morning of the winter so far.

A couple of years ago I'd be really worried about my bamboos, wondering what sort of damage they were taking. Now though, due to either the increased maturity of the groves or myself as a gardener, I can just appreciate the beauty of the crisp arctic air -- especially since it's not moving right now.

A winter sunrise is such a nice thing! I probably appreciate it more because I can't see the horizon in the summer. Plus sunrise is just too early in the summer!

As you can see we received some snow too...

The fish are safe and happy -- no worries from above for a while:

The birds still have some place to drink though thanks to the birdbath heater:

Bamboo in the snow is so pretty!

I really love cold winter mornings, especially when I'm enjoying the view from inside the house.

I hope you're doing okay with the early-season arrival of this cold air!

  1. The snow is beautiful, especially on your pond...and yes, these days are wonderful...especially when I have my coffee and can lounge inside in my PJ's and enjoy it :-)
