One thing that makes the cold days of winter something to actually look forward to is citrus. When those fruits start arriving in big numbers from Florida and California, it's a time of delicious happiness.
Nothing says that more to me than mandarin oranges, or more specifically, the "Clementine" variety. When these start arriving, I just can't help myself!
Their cute size,
the ease with which they peel, perfuming a room, protecting the heads of cats,
the hollow in their bottoms,
the fact that even the smallest bag of these contains at least a dozen or two,
what's not to love about these beautiful, seedless, tasty fruits?
If I lived in the right climate, I'd have these trees in my garden for sure!
Does anybody not love Clementines?
.
I agree! Clementines are my favorite citrus for eating.
ReplyDeleteGerhard: why don't you grow these?
ReplyDeleteI just watched a youtube video about a man in Houston who teaches permaculture. He lives in a standard subdivision, regular sized yard, and manages to grow massive quantities of food. (OK, it is Houston, but still!) One of his favorites is his tangerine trees. I had true climate jealousy! Love those little Cuties!
