Liars!

That's what Loree at Danger Garden called my bamboo, when the dead and desiccated leaves rehydrated in the rain a couple of weekends ago making it look like the plants were doing just fine.

Of course they weren't fine. I wanted to see up close the rehydration process though, so I grabbed a few leaves...

...and a big bowl of water.

Added a few dead leaves and one that was pretty much undamaged...

...and waited.

I let them soak overnight, and the next morning they looked pretty good.

Not quite alive, but not dead.

Compared to the live leaf they look terrible, but get a dehydrated one in there...

...and you see the improvement the soaking has made.
