So I turned to my favorite wintertime-but-wishing-it-were-summer-again trick: watching videos of my garden!
What I should really say is "listening to videos of my garden", because that's the important part for me. It turns out that I didn't take nearly enough video at home this summer (mainly due to too much travel), but this first video is so relaxing to me -- it's quality, not quantity, right?
Headphones highly recommended!
I also thought it would be nice to reminisce about the roadtrip to Yellowstone, and since I haven't yet edited all of the video I shot, we'll have to go with the haunting sound of the unseen cranes again:
It's perfect though, as it transports me back to that warm, breezy afternoon in Grand Teton National Park, when hiking made us so wonderfully tired.
And why not end with a touch of cute added to the sounds of the garden? I can't believe the kittens are going to be four years old in a couple of months!
I need to remember to make more videos of the garden this summer, even if it's just to set the camera on a tripod and let it record for a few minutes. Those reminders of warmer, leafier times are just what I need right now!

I also forgot to mention: you don't need a video camera to capture the sounds of summer in the garden of course. If your phone has a "voice memo" function/app, use that to record a few minutes. So wonderful to hear during winter!
ReplyDeleteI've now watched the tadpole video multiple times... sigh. Even the distant sound of the train is lovely to hear.
ReplyDeleteWe decided to leave our pond running all winter this year - little did we know it would be the COLDEST WINTER EVER! But all is well. And the best part is, although you can't necessarily SEE the water, we can still hear it going over the falls. Gives me hope that spring just might come after all!
