In any case, you get more turtle photos today!
This one was just walking on the driveway in the morning, making its way over my winter mulch pile, not caring about the metal poles I've got strewn about.
If this is the same turtle as the other morning, the mouth junk is obviously gone, and he's much less timid today.
In fact...
...I'd almost say that he was posing for the camera!
In case the shell patterns are like human fingerprints and can help ID individuals:
So I have some questions.
- Is this the same turtle, or are there hordes of them roaming my garden?
- How many posts about turtles can you take?
- Why do I never see "my" turtles going uphill?
- With enough turtles around, will the rabbits keep away?
- Why have I never before realized just how cool turtle legs are?
Enjoy the long weekend -- if you have one!
.
I can't tell because the pics yesterday are the left side of the turtle's face vs right side today. I'd guess yes because of the skin flip near the mouth might be a healing scrape that explains the white mouth thing.
ReplyDeleteI think you've made a friend. A poser for sure.
Go with the turtle theme sprinkled in your posts or maybe adding a page for the turtle(s) or garden wild side or wild life. I can look at turtles like cats, dogs, and squirrels.
You've captured some very nice turtle pictures.
What are you going to call the turtle?
Same turtle. And it is a she. Male box turtles have red eyes, females have brown. Turtles are quite territorial so you should be seeing quite a bit of her.
ReplyDeleteTJ: Thank you! How did you identify that it was the same turtle? Shell markings? Other markings?
ReplyDeleteDo I need to keep an eye out for baby turtles too? I know they like to lay in soil mounds, and I do have a small mound of exposed soil. Wonder what to look out for?
She's sweet!
ReplyDeleteBTW, she happened to be posing next to the only two weeds in my garden. Don't think that there are weeds all over the place because everything is really quite immaculate! *cough*
ReplyDeleteturtle legs are cool! lol
ReplyDeleteShe's a poser, and photogenic!
