Just a few things this Friday morning. Columbine (Aquilegia canadensis) is starting to dominate the garden, volunteering in several places throughout. That's a good thing!
What else is going on now (or has been recently) in the garden?
The alliums are starting to bloom:
I don't remember planting so many of these -- they must be reseeding, which is wonderful!
The ducks hang out in or near the pond for the majority of each day now. I thought the pond was pretty complete last year, not realizing that swimming ducks would make it so much better!
I can't say that they're getting accustomed to seeing me yet, but at least they don't completely leave the area when I'm moving around back there -- they just move away a bit.
The first brood of house finches have left the front porch nest -- which happens so suddenly! -- and mom has decided that the second brood needs to have a greener home:
(Don't we all?)
Speaking of green...
...I love fresh hosta foliage, don't you? (No, I'm not talking to you deer...)
I love mushrooms in the garden!
I'm also captivated by the columbine blooms this morning...
A couple of weeks ago I got to see the southwest from high above again:
I see it every year in spring, but like the garden I never tire of it!
There's always something different to see, like this bloom with too many "fingers":
Have a fun weekend, and I hope you're seeing good things in your gardens!
.
Lots happening there on your side Alan, and hope those ducks stay for much longer. Happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteIt's a season of wonders in the garden! I hope your wonderful duckies don't overdo the nitrogen levels in your pond! Of course, you've lots of plants there that should be happy to take care of that! Our columbines are starting (gorgeous shots, BTW) but no allium yet - a few buds though. It's interesting how your warmer spring temperatures cause a slight difference in the progression of bloom. Happy Weekend to you Alan!
ReplyDeleteGosh, it feels like you are weeks ahead of us there! We don't have a single thing blooming in the garden yet, except the magnolia which is bloomed and done. Hopefully this is the week, as temps are predicted in the 70s. Your ducks make me jealous - we have a roaming fox that keeps ours on their little duck toes!
