Another project: Bench!
Last weekend was the planter box. The weekend before that was this bench.
I wanted to post about it immediately, but I hadn't stained it yet and I don't like posting images of projects that are not finished -- I did that with the screen and wish I had waited. Anyway, let's see the bench...
I don't have too much to say about it, other than the design was a bit complicated. I need to figure out how to make this easier to build.
I relied on the "cubes" style of the coffee table again, modified to fit the design.
The main feature is the stone panels:
(Those panels are also the reason this was so difficult to make!)
The "stone" is actually ceramic tile, rated for outdoor use so they should be freeze-proof.
It looks great with the coffee table!
I wonder where I'll put this? I like it in front of the bamboo but that's my main mid-day work area, being the only shady spot on the driveway in early afternoon. Hmmm...
.
So cool! It also had a Japanese look to it too.
Perhaps a blog post on how you made them? We'd be delighted to find out your techniques :)
I LOVE your bench,it's perfection in style, color, size and you can?change out the tile. You should make a small bistro table in this style. You are very talented
Wow....that's amazing! It looks so fab next to the bamboo and with the table. I guess I do like stained wood on the garden. (reflecting back on my comment about the planter box).
Mark/Gaz: I plan to make more of these, so I'll post about it after I figure out the best way to make them. This first one probably had lots of extra steps.
Anon: Thank you! Yes you can change out the tiles, although they are 8" tiles which is not the most common size.
Loree: Thanks! In front of the bamboo is really a perfect spot for these pieces, but I'm not sure that I can have a full "living room" set on the driveway... :)
I love it too. I'd pay good money for this combo. Have you ever thought of selling your creations? There could be quite a market for you.
Excellent work! Its beautiful. I can see it indoors in a chic living room. You can make custom furniture.
In winter, I'd cover it because of the ice expanding and contracting thing.
Wow! Your projects get better and better! It looks perfect with the bamboo, very Asian-style. Good stain job, too.
Another gorgeous creation, Alan! It does look great by the bamboo.
