garlic chives have such pretty blooms! |
BTW, I know how the frog gets up into the barrel: he jumps straight up there! I happened to be looking out the window yesterday and saw him do it. His first attempt was short, only halfway up, but the second jump easily cleared the rim and he landed on top of the water hyacinths.

Gorgeous! The plant combinations in your second and third pictures are great! What is the silver/gray plant with Verbena bonariensis?
ReplyDeleteWhat happened to your terracotta pot? It's actually a neat effect.
ReplyDeleteTheh frog is funny.
ReplyDeleteI have a bucket of plants on the deck that fills up with rain. Once day as I was letting the water pour out, a big brown toad rolls over the deck. I put him upright. Nary a thank you from him. :)
Peter: the second photo is Persicaria 'Painters Palette' with Aerva sanguinolenta, while the silver plant in the third photo is probably Artemesia ludoviciana.
ReplyDeleteGerhard: that's a pot I inherited with the huge agave, and I assume it's just old or has experienced a freeze or two. It came to me in that condition but I agree it's nice!
Maywyn: Funny story! I don't see toads much this late in the year -- they dominate the pond in the first half of the season.
