Simple place to sit or set (something)

project
It's been a few weeks since I've been able to build anything new for the garden, so this past weekend I got started on a simple design inspired by a stool I saw while in Amsterdam.
Battling a furious cold caught while traveling, things moved more slowly than I had hoped and I was only able complete one of these. I had intended on making at least two, possibly three.
So what is it?
It's a stool, designed to look like a solid block of wood (which it does as long as you're not too close). Since this is the prototype, some changes could be possible...
...like edges that are rounded even more than this. I like the chunky feet:
This seems like a design that would lend itself to a wider range of colors, but since I wasn't feeling great I just went with the dark deck stain/sealer for this first one since it was easy.
Although designed as a stool, it also makes a great little table:
Wow, the driveway is getting full of furniture projects!
I'll revisit this once I make a few more of these stools -- I think they'll look more impressive in groups of two or three...
.
Nice, Alan! I would love a few of those. You have amazing skills.
Love it and can't wait to see more of them! Will you do a variety of heights for plants or keep them all at the same height to be multi purpose?
Tamara: Thanks -- glad you like it!
Peter: I'd probably keep them all this height, but I could see the design changing a bit to allow more function in taller versions for plant stands.
That's great craftsmanship! Just an idea here, the lid could be lift off, with an internal lip, for storage.
A place to put plants in containers is great. I like lifting them up off the ground! Great idea.
Another fine piece of workmanship! Sorry to hear about the cold. I catch a cold any time I get on an airplane - stale air re-circulating germs for too many hours. Feel better!
That is absolutely fabulous, I love it! What are the chunky feet made from?
Brian: I thought about a removable lid -- I'll give that a try. I don't want the stool to feel less solid though, so we'll see how that works.
Lisa: Thank you. Getting there slowly but surely.
Loree: So glad you like it! The feet are wood as well, but with a solid-color stain on them.
I just re-read your title and was reminded of my grandparents who used to say "set" when they meant "sit". Smart little thing that I was, I would try to correct them, but they couldn't be convinced... sweet memory!
Love it! I'd use it as an end-table more than a stool.
Welcome to air travel. I came back from Alaska with a nasty bug I'm still fighting. I've been working at 50% capacity for a week now.
Life should be full of projects that inspire and make you happy...I love the joy that shows in your creations.
