Today is at least partly sunny, with temperatures reaching about 15ºF above normal.
Since I have little time today, this sunshine was the perfect excuse to jump outside and snap a few photos of the light's effect on the front garden.
A lot more green can be seen out here than is normal for this time of year.
The other wonderful colors of winter are still around though...
...(wonderful only when sunlit maybe?)
Shiny leaves are welcome right now!
So easy to get photos of backlit plants at this time of year, the sun is so low in the sky.
This seems like it's going to be quite a manageable winter here in St. Louis...
.
A question: do you ever take your Equisetum under cover in the big freezes during winter? Thanks...
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos.
ReplyDeleteWarmer temperatures here in Vermont the last few days.
Cirmaraki: No, I leave it out there, exposed to even the harshest temps. I've learned to prune all of the old growth before the new stuff emerges though.
ReplyDeleteMaywyn: Mild in Vermont too? The ground has not yet frozen here. Very strange.
Sun? I've forgotten what that looks/feels like. Thanks for the virtual reminder. That last photo, what is the plant? You've captured it beautifully.
ReplyDeleteWe have had continuous rain for almost two weeks; I am becoming more and more appreciative of the evergreens in my garden and landscape.
ReplyDeleteLoree: That last plant is Artemisia ludoviciana the best I can tell. It slowly spreads by its roots so last year was the first it was bulky enough to impress -- looking forward to it next year!
ReplyDeleteCharlie: I hear you! It's so nice to go out into the garden in the middle of winter and see so much green (from the bamboos)!
