But I have a bird feeder underneath these branches, and the birds kept getting in the way of my branch photos.
I didn't know that wrens ate seed! |
Don't think that expensive Safflower seed is squirrel-proof. Some of them do like it! |
Um, why is this water hard? |
House finch (behind the feeder) brings even more color to the party! |
I didn't completely give up on the branches though...
Neither the bird photos nor the branch photos turned out great, but sometimes Nature doesn't reveal itself perfectly.
Watching birds at a feeder in winter is like watching the fish in the pond during the summer -- I could do it for hours I think.

Funny how nature messes with your plans sometimes. Your bird shots are adorable and since I no longer feed the birds, other than the hummers, (too much rodent interest in free food)it's nice to enjoy watching them vicariously through your images.
ReplyDeleteYou have some mighty fine looking birds there! Aside from the hummers and the scrub jays, most of our birds seem to be of the nondescript brown variety.
ReplyDeleteFun to see the birds at your feeder. I've not seen the one with the orange bill--beautiful!
ReplyDeleteLove those birds. I agree that one can watch birds for hours, especially after a snowfall.
ReplyDeleteYour birds are so colorful, even in the winter! Everything that visits my garden is some shade of brown feathers. I wonder if squirrels develop specific tastes, depending on what you have available for them to eat?
