Still winter, but that's okay!

Yes, it's still Winter.

That's not necessarily a bad thing though.

***

It's been cold the last few days, and a light snow fell for most of the day yesterday. Not much accumulated, but it was enough to remind us that those "X days/weeks until Spring!" countdowns are currently meaningless.

Inside though we've been enjoying the benefits of cold outdoor temperatures...

...as the wood stove has been keeping us toasty...

...the Amaryllis are blooming:

I was surprised and a bit dismayed to learn that I've had these for ten years already!

Plus winter means...

...mangoes!

So Spring can hold off for a while longer -- I don't really mind!

You snowy, cold winter looks lovely. For us, winter is just cool, gray, and soggy which the moss and fungi enjoy quite a bit. I've heard that the mangoes have arrived at the stores and are spectacular! Hooray!

The snow on the bamboo looks beautiful.

I can practically feel the heat coming off the embers. We're getting actual winter weather even in NC this week and that fire looks delightful.

I don't mind the snow, but the extreme worm and that the extreme cold really scares me. I have thing that are breaking bud really early. If we get another bad cold snap it will be disaster.

The snow looks wonderful on the bamboo, and you can enjoy it from the warmth inside. To me, that's always the best part of winter...
