The view through my kitchen window has changed so much over the past 5 years -- it has become one of my favorite vignettes. Perfect for The Wednesday Vignette hosted by Anna!
The main feature of this vignette is the bamboo.
So green, it saves my gardening soul during the long winter months:
One plant alone does not make a view though, and what makes this view so great has nothing to do with me or my garden. My neighbors have inadvertently improved this view...
...with the addition of some new deck supports, and a new fence. I love all of the strong vertical lines!
The fence actually belongs to the house two down from me, but has created a backdrop that has never existed before (as well as diverting deer traffic into new patterns).
The magnolia next door is still so great, a contrast to the bare branches that abound, also to the fine texture of the bamboo foliage.
The vertical lines are emphasized by my own efforts...
...and work so well with the horizontal lines of the siding. All of these lines make the foliage so much more effective I think. (That discarded Christmas tree shows me that some sort of planting would be really nice here -- I'll see if I can convince them...)

I dare say your view far surpasses the view from my kitchen, which consists of the manicured lawn of our next door neighboor, and our own driveway. And, I think you're onto something... that Christmas tree needs a replacement of some sort. I'm sure you're full of great ideas to present to them. :)
ReplyDeleteLove the new backdrop!
ReplyDeleteHow nice when your neighbors add nice things to your view!
ReplyDeleteThere is truly great pleasure in the simple things.
ReplyDeleteI agree some plantings near the deck would be nice. And your view is much better than mine. I look out onto our storage area where we park our big work trailer and store left over hardscape materials. Thankfully the Mexican plum, Sweet olives and Yaupon Holly tree that are planted along the north-side are getting tall and I can see them now : )
