Rhubarb and other reasons

I've been a bit lax in my posting lately, sometimes skipping a day, others just putting the minimum amount of effort into it. I thought I'd explain the reason for this to you today...

...it's rhubarb! Well, not just rhubarb, but apples, strawberries, and other wonderful from-the-garden stuffs.

***

You may know that my wife is a baker. I've mentioned it in passing a few times, and directly when talking about compost piles and how much of a single item they could handle.

For the past couple of years she's been working at a pie shop -- a small bakery that specializes in pies. Well recently she's transitioned from baking at that shop to running it. As of a little over a month ago she owns it!

That means that I've had a lot more experience lately with turning fruits and other things that were once growing into ingredients.

When your wife owns a pie shop you get fat help out in that pie shop, so my early morning garden photo/post writing time is now spent cooking up chocolate cream, peeling apples, making supply runs and various other supporting tasks. It's fun!

I'm trying to buffer up a few days worth of posts, but when the weather gets in the way it's sometimes not possible.

So remember on those days when my posts are missing, or late, or just looking a bit thin that there is a very delicious reason for it.

Please come visit the shop if you're in the St. Louis area! Pie Oh My, 2719 Sutton Blvd, Maplewood MO 63143.

(Note that none of the edibles in these photos came from my own garden darn it.)

  1. I like the thought of you helping yourself to pie, oops, that was supposed to be- supporting your wife at her pie shop. Congratulations to her on buying the place. Your readers could play a game, every day there's no post everyone eats a piece of pie. We can do a bit of body building together.

  2. Sigh... There goes the diet...

Actually, this is exciting as my family loves pie and now I can be the hero for bringing in some masterpieces. ;-)

  3. Congratulations to you both!
If you are away with pies preparing and eating, then that's a good reason in my book to miss a few blog postings. :)

  6. Huge congrats to your wife! It sounds like it's a family business, though, with you helping out! I looked at the selection of pies--all I can say is I'm glad I'm so far away, otherwise I'd become even blimpier.
