A little bit of red

These little red moths rob me of salvia blooms each year, their caterpillars feasting on the buds:

It looks great in this setting though!

My lone purple coneflower bloom: (okay, not strictly red)

Deer and viruses got the rest of mine -- surprised I even have this one. I won't be replanting.

The 'Red Mohican' allium maturing:

I expected these to get even more red with time, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Maybe after they've matured a few years?

The other "red" is in the thermometer -- near 100ºF (38ºC) again today. Or is that tomorrow? Actually today is the "cool" day at 90ºF (32ºC).

Yikes, that's hot! In the 70's here today. Your little red moths are sure pretty but Salvia blooms would be nice too!

Peter: for a few years I had Salvia coccinea growing everywhere in my garden. Then it started dwindling and eventually went away. I realized that those little moths (caterpillars actually) were devouring the blooms and preventing reseeding. :(
