Brief look at front walkway

I guess you'd have to say that my youngest part of the garden is the walkway, as I built it just a few years back. Its addition was a huge positive change not only for me as the gardener, but for the wildlife and neighbors.

Let's take a quick look at it today, as it's looking surprisingly good compared to the amount of time I've spent on it this year (very little).

I'm particularly happy with the portion that's closest to the house, the part that I see while sitting at my computer (if I turn to look out the window):

The silvery gray Artemisia ludoviciana (not entirely sure of that ID) really makes this area I think. Thanks to its spreading nature I've got it growing in a couple of other parts of the garden too this year. There is still much purple Perilla to pull, but I'm doing that slowly as it adds such nice color to the bed.

The plant combos in the bed nearest to the front door are looking pretty good too:

That spiky trunk is my beautiful inherited Pachypodium lamerei. I'm really considering giving it a bigger pot, although that means that it will no longer be able to winter indoors standing upright.

Not everything out here is looking great though:

A little pruning, water, and fertilizer and these will soon be perking back up.

Heatwaves are good for taking care of those weedy pots that haven't yet been planted up:

The curtain of greenery in the back becomes spectacular when backlit with the sunrise:

The garden still delights even when there's much to do and so little time to do it!

Sunday and Monday are my main gardening days lately, and I've got quite a bit done yesterday. I'm hoping I'll be able to show you all parts of the garden this week or next!
