Unusual texture: fun!
I noticed something interesting in the garden the other day: a fungus that was creating an interesting texture on the mulch surrounding one of my bamboos.
Thousands of tiny dots making things much more fun!
I suspect that this area will soon produce many mushrooms, but for now it's just dots.
A closer look:
Reminds me a bit of the sugar frosting on frosted mini wheats.
These next two give you a better sense of the scale:
That's my index finger, so these really are tiny dots.
Fun and interesting, right? Does anybody know what sort of fungus this is?
I'll keep an eye on the area and see if I can catch the mushroom bloom -- if there is one.
.
Curious thing! Reminding me of octopus suckers too.
In this case, it's a welcome fungus :-).
Very interesting! Maybe it's an alien life form plotting world domination.
Great photos! Didn't have an idea how tiny the dots are until the finger photo.
I believe those tiny dots are a slime mold, not a fungus. I'm trying to remember the name, but I can't at the moment. If I find it, I'll be back.
Jacqueline: slime mold -- nice! I'll see if I can ID it too. The only slime mold I've had experience with was the "vomit"-looking kind. I much prefer this one if that's what it turns out to be!
