Surprise Lilies and FIsh
A couple of surprises down by the pond recently.
As terrible as the water has been and the fact that the level is so low due to the critter-created tears, lots of rain recently has rejuvenated it somewhat.
The fish are happier...
...even though I know they're wondering why I don't fix the leaks and give them back the water area (or should I say "volume") they are accustomed to.
The surprise lilies are back here too:
I forget about them every year until 1) early spring when their foliage emerges and 2) early August when they bloom.
These were once growing in quite a bit of sun, but now it's very shady here. As a result they're not doing as well as they once did. I should transplant some of them...
...except I know that they work themselves quite deeply into the ground, and I don't know that I'm up for that sort of digging project right now, especially with other projects on the list.
Still, I'm glad that there is something good going on in the pond area!
These were transplanted from my wife's childhood home, so they have a little bit of sentimental value. I don't want to see them get weaker until they don't come back!
.
Glad to hear the fish are doing well, and those lilies do look good in a swathe like that!
The lilies are a beautiful shade of lavender pink! Do they have a name?
These remind spider lilies; they look amazing around the pond.
