The point of this post though is that an happy accident has occurred...
There are tiny white flowers in the mix now!
The feathery foliage of a volunteer cypress vine (Ipomea quamoclit) adds so much here -- the fact that this is a white-flowered version (instead of red) makes it almost perfect!
More of the white flowers will be opening over the next few weeks which will just make it even better.
The big bees love it right now:
The vines look even better next to the large leaves of the Colocasia esculenta:
I love these vines!
.
Beautiful. The habitat you create for bugs, bees, birds and other I'm confident, gives them a home to feel ecstatically happy about.
ReplyDeleteWhat a happy accident. The white flowers look great with the maypops and the texture contrasts of the wide view is luscious.
ReplyDeleteIncredibly fresh and lush and with blooms to look forward to, you lucky devil!
ReplyDeleteI love the maypop vine, too, although mine never look that good. In my neighborhood they're food for Gulf Fritillary larvae and get eaten down to tatters. I get a yard full of butterflies, so I love them regardless of their condition.
ReplyDeleteAwesome combination indeed! Sometimes the best things happen purely by chance. BTW, do you get fruit from your passionflower?
ReplyDeleteI do get fruit, although Maypop fruits contain a lot of empty space -- hence the "pop" moniker (they pop when you step on them)
