Bulbine frutescens

I picked up this "annual" last year (Bulbine frutescens) and it has quietly rewarded me greatly in its pot on the driveway.

All I know is it's almost bulletproof, producing blooms all summer as long as I water it and fertilize a bit. I love these flowers!

The plant itself is nothing special, with its grassy foliage:

It seems to want to travel a bit too, as the woody-looking stems are climbing out of the pot:

The blooms are so nice though, if a little spindly!

This is not cold-hardy in my climate so I'll just overwinter indoors again. Maybe this needs to be divided? I wonder if it actually forms bulbs...

  2. Fascinating flower - suggestion. I'm going to take a look to see if I can get it to thrive in a pot on my porch.
