Some Fall Color

Things are so busy right now, writing these blog posts gets a lower priority -- hence the skipped days. It's a bit disappointing as I've been so good with daily posts for so many years (then weekday posts), but it can't be helped.

That being said, here are a few things that have been catching my eye lately in the garden and around town. Starting with those fallen leaves and bamboo. What a great color combo!

Of course there are trees that grab your attention in the fall, and there is a pair of them that I drive by every day on the way home from the bakery. They caught my eye one day so I photographed them...

...and then a few days later I focused on the smaller one...

...and again:

...until the larger one was the only thing worth seeing:

I think I had a better view of this tree as it changed than I did of my own trees!

The weather has been unseasonably (is that still the right term?) warm -- except for the one night when it got just below freezing:

That's a good amount of frost on the windshield (looking out)! That was last Sunday morning, and today it was over 80ºF (27ºC). Freezing temps are coming on Saturday night again, so I'll need to bring a few more things indoors.

I'm so glad I'm lazy with leaf raking, as the late greenery really benefits from the carpet of color!

I'll show you the plants that have come indoors next, as I have a new approach this year.

  1. There's a tree outside my window at work that gives a stunning fall show. I love watching how it changes by the day. This weather has extended the fall colors by several weeks - I'm loving every gorgeous day!

  2. Being at the bakery makes fewer posts all right by me. Bakeries are special as gardens to some of us. :)
    Good pictures of the trees.

  3. Fall foliage never ceases to delight. That is a log of frost on your windshield. Looking forward to seeing your new plant migration strategy this year.

  4. Lovely foliage--fun to see the brilliance of it in climates like yours. Our autumn foliage color in So Cal is mostly brown.

Don't worry about time between blog posts--life will intervene now and then.
