Winter color

Just some color that I noticed today in the garden.

It was a bit warmer so I spent a few minutes walking around. Not as much fun as in spring, but the garden is still quite enjoyable.

The blues caught my eye:

Touches of green too:

But mainly the browns and grays of a Midwestern winter:

Still pretty, earth tones are beautiful too!

The bald cypress trunk looks more red than usual, probably because there isn't much color around now?

Finally, there's the pink of the always first-to-emerge Dicentra (bleeding hearts).

It usually pushes out in February, but not this early!

  1. Beautiful tawny winter colors. Those emerging dicentra shoots rival peonies for new pink growth.
