Rose Support Finished

I've shown you the build of the rose support and the design process too, and I've had a chance to get the final bars on and the rose has been tied up...

...so time for a final look! ("Final" for now I mean.)

The best thing about this is function: it keeps the rose canes out of the way as intended. None are blocking the driveway or invading my neighbor's airspace anymore.

The rose canes were attached to the bars using copper wire:

I wanted to use something that would be easy to install, last forever, and also look good. Copper wire is just the thing!

There are pros and cons to being a neighbor of the guy with the crazy garden (me). One of the pros is that you get to see things like this whenever you're on the street:

I have to admit, it looks good!

It will be even better once it leafs out more (and blooms of course).

That looks really good. Well done! Here I would say the metal bars and using metal wire would be a bad idea because of our dry heat and lack of sunny days, but in your climate probably not an issue. Any flower buds yet?

Hoover: Thanks! I'm not sure why the metal bars are a bad idea -- heat?

That certainly is an interesting and attractive support. Was it your own idea? Today I cut my rose right down to 3 canes. I told it it had better perform or its out of there.

Roses behind bars. Prison never looked so good.
