A little allium love

Just a little allium eye candy today.

Allium christophii might be my favorite, but is it only because I've only been growing it for a couple of years?

***

Nope. It's just too fabulous! Love that center!

This is Allium 'Globemaster' I believe, or something similar:

Such a tightly packed globular flower, although just a little bigger than tennis ball sized for me. That could due to a deer biting off the main flower stem when it first emerged. Probably didn't eat it -- never trust any plant to be "deer proof" as there is no such thing. Even if they don't like to eat it they might still taste it, or accidentally trample it, or lay on it, or whatever. Stupid deer.

Compare to another earlier allium, and you'll see the difference:

This white flowered allium keeps producing more and more side bulbs:

They're not all blooming, but I expect next year will be quite a show.

Finally, just to show that sometimes even poor planning can result in some accidental beauty:

Love that color combination! (Pleioblastus viridistriatus bamboo showing its fresh spring foliage color)

Some of my best garden combos are the result of poor planning or volunteers coming up in odd places. I'm OK with that!

Alliums are fun when in bloom. Very showy for no effort at all.

I share your fondness for allium! From bloom to seed head, they're just fun.
