Going overboard: new planter creation

So I made myself a new planter recently. Here it's shown with some plants still in containers to try and figure out what to plant here (and what deer won't eat right at mouth level):

This project happened only because I've been storing our old kitchen sink in the garage for several years and have finally cleaned things up to make more workshop space. The sink had to go and I didn't want to just throw it away (even though somebody would probably have rescued it from the curb).

A couple of more shots of this cedar sink planter/stand...

...although there's no reason it couldn't be used as an outdoor sink I guess.

The bottom supports are sized to fit a rectangular plastic planter I have, or could easily support a shelf.

It started with this. Garage cleanout!

Mortise and tenon joinery for strength (even though I made the mortise in the wrong place!)

It was a lot of work just to get the sink out of the garage, but it was fun and good practice.

I think I'd rather sell this than put it to use in my garden -- although I suppose I could find a spot where it would work...
