Agave love

I've had a decent (too big for my climate?) Agave collection for a few years, ever since several were gifted to me by a downsizing gardener. This is the first year that I've really been blown away by one though.

Agave weberi 'Arizona Star' loves its new spot on the south side of the house!

It got a bigger pot this spring and lots more sun, and it really is responding!

Agaves and papyrus -- made for each other?

How about adding some Colocasia (Elephant ears) to the band?

This part of the garden really is a mashup.  (Some would say that about my entire garden...)

Plenty to see here but you can't stop looking at the agave, right?

It's right next to some nopales Opuntia...

Which seems fitting.

I'm loving this plant right now!

Let's see how I feel when I have to find a spot to overwinter it indoors...

Isn't that the way of it? Summer agave love sometimes gives way to less amorous feelings when hauling pots inside for the winter. That agave is a beauty!

Nothing seizes the garden limelight like an agave, right? I love this one too. Mine has some growing to do to catch up to yours. What a beauty!

I'm with you. Every garden should have agaves for their wonderful structure. I also have this one-in pots too. The A weberi may be hardy in the ground but the variegated form is not.

Stunning plant. The one you gave me is doing really well. Thanks again. Did you water yours during our 100 degree drought?

So happy you're excited about an Agave!!! (and it's a beauty)

Just realized that I forgot to add the closeup image to the post. Ah well, later.

Jim: I did water it a little when I passed by with the hose. The ones that didn't get as much water showed visible stress.

What a great specimen! It has responded really well to a bigger pot and ample water!
