I thought this Japanese maple was a "coral bark" maple, but the trunk is mainly green and brown now. The leaves are the last of my Acers to turn, and they're a wonderful orange-pinkish color.

Another shot, with bamboo for a background:
That bamboo greenery adds so much!
It makes even the simple yellows of the silver maple...
...look so much better, don't you think? Contrast. Gotta have the contrast.
Back to the little "who knows what" maple again:
I wish fall colors lasted longer!
(and the leaves would just turn to powder before falling or something like that. Raking blah!)
.
So pretty! We still have leaves on trees here - it's been an odd fall.
ReplyDeleteYour green bamboo provides a stunning contrast to the riotous colors of autumn. My coral bark maple has a grey trunk too and only the new growth at the top retains the coral color. That's just what the tree does over time. Kind of a disappointment.
ReplyDeleteMy Japanese maples are naked too now. Yes, raking is a drag, but it's a good exercise. If one has a compost bin, which I don't, these fallen leafs are fabulous material to add to it.
ReplyDeleteAutumn colours are so lovely, and yes wish they lasted longer!
ReplyDeleteThe leaves turn to brown dust here, but they don't color up first--green goes straight to brown.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful color in those photos. Must be even more vivid in person.
