Now though, my attention to detail and dedication to growing something edible (by humans) has paid off, and a bumper crop will soon be harvested!

Yes, there are still a few weeds. Yes, it looks like I just threw kale seeds by the handful without carefully planning, considering yields, or anything else -- like planting in the raised beds instead of the walkway area.
Okay, so maybe it does just look like those few volunteer kale plants last year went to seed...
...and I actually had nothing to do with this at all. Appearances may be deceiving, but in this case, they're not. I didn't do a thing.
I also didn't plant the garlic chives which I suspect could outcompete some of my bamboos based on the number of seedlings that pop up each year.
Oh, and apparently I'm still growing garlic too...
...even though it's been probably 4 years since I put a garlic clove into the ground. It's actually a very attractive plant!
So yes, my kale crop looks to be a doozy -- through no effort on my part.
Are you accidentally doing anything really well in the garden this spring?
.
The accidental gardener. That's is a good name for a garden blog :-D Forever the optimist, a few vegetable planted in a small raised bed last week. Fingers crossed.
ReplyDeleteI am very good at reseeding the grass in my "lawn" each spring. Only problem is that I got rid of my lawn about 3 years ago, and it was never in my DG patio... Details! At least your kale is edible!
ReplyDeleteHappy Kale!
ReplyDeleteI've been eagerly looking for marigold seeds to sprout. Instead, I see a few morning glories.
Last year a sunflower arrived out front by my apple tree. I was very close to taking it out right before the bud opened but thankfully my curiosity won out and we were delightfully surprised.
