A little walkway help

Today we'll look at the part of my garden that I see most: the front walkway. There are some good things going on here...

...but there are some problems too. I'll address one problem spot in particular today...

...the end of the beds nearest the sidewalk:

The left (north) side is not too bad, as I've previously added some foliage to fill things out:

It's the right (south) side that is a disappointment:

There's nothing to excite me here. The salvia I planted aren't impressing, and there's too much green.

So the salvias came out (transplanted) and I added a bit of punch:

Now that's more like it!  Color, bold foliage -- perfect!

What did I add?

From sidewalk moving back toward the house there's a "firebush" (Hamelia patens) -- whatever it is, the foliage is amazing!

Then a Hybiscus 'Mahogony Splendor' -- I just had to go buy another one:

Paired with Duranta 'Gold Edge' they both look even better:

And then a little further down, this beauty:

That's Pseuderanthemum 'Stainless Steel', and I hope it reaches its full 36" (90cm) height because the colors are just perfect! (I also hope it has a common name because typing "Pseuderanthemum" is getting tiring.)

I know nothing about any of these plants, other than what the tags tell me:

Even with the sun in my eyes, I can see that I've done well:

The only problem is, I can't really see these guys from my office window... I can just get a little peek at the red hibiscus foliage. Maybe when they get bigger. Ah well, at least I'll walk by them a couple of times a day or more.

Now we wait and see if the deer eat any of these...

(It's been almost a week and there have been no signs of nibbling, so maybe they're safe?)
