"Those blooms are done so I should deadhead before seed production starts" is one I say in my head a lot, especially with these rose mallow (Hibiscus lasiocarpos) along the front walkway. Yesterday I noticed that they're just about ready to spill those seeds!

So it's important that I focus on the task at hand: getting the pruners out and removing those pods before they drop.
Before getting the Felcos out, a few photos...
Wait, what's that brushing against my arm?
The light on the purple fountain grass inflorescences is just amazing...
...especially as they sway in the delightful breeze -- we're having one of those cool spells right now.
So it's important to stay focused on the task at hand...
...because these BB-like seeds are just about to roll out.
So I'll go grab the pruners now... but I still have several dead bamboo culms to cut down... maybe I should take advantage of the weather and jump on that first. I'll come back and prune these after that...
Stay tuned for next week's post showing half-empty seed pods still on the plant...

GADD - Garden Attention Deficit Disorder. Sounds familiar. Great pictures. Oh, look over there. Is that a butterfly?
ReplyDeleteTotally sounds familiar.
ReplyDeleteYup. I"ve got it, too. That's how I end up with coneflower popping up everywhere and those milkweed pods that I fully intended to deal with before they popped sending seeds floating all over the neighborhood...
ReplyDeleteHah! I'd water I'm the least experiences poster on here but I feel vindicated as I set out to clear the tomatoes and end up admiring the monarch for ten minutes to finish up by pulling weeds and fighting back the day lillies. I consider myself in good company.
